13th Annual South Robertson (SoRo) Community Festival

Los Angeles, CA — This year's 13th Annual SoRo Community Festival will take place on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The SoRo Community Festival will be located on South Robertson Boulevard between Beverlywood St. and Cattaraugus St. (just North of Hamilton High School and the 10 Fwy).

The SoRo Community Festival’s goals are to build bridges amongst local neighbors, businesses and community and public service organizations and celebrate the cultural diversity of our community. Local caterers, restaurants, merchants, schools, entertainers and organizations will participate. The Festival will feature activities for kids, a live music stage and lots of exciting artist and vendor booths.

Plus this year, you and your family can receive free information on how to prepare in the event of an emergency and the opportunity to purchase Emergency Preparedness supplies. The SoRo Festival will also feature a special section on Green Living, where you can receive information on how to live a greener lifestyle. Additionally, the Festival will feature local school children’s presentation of art and science projects on the theme of living Green. The SoRo Community and Los Angeles City Council Members Herb J. Wesson, Jr. and Paul Koretz will be presenting a special Community Award for Outstanding Green Citizenship to Vons for their commitment to a greener lifestyle.

In addition, the SoRo Festival will feature an exciting variety of food vendors, offering a delicious assortment of choices (including Kosher and vegetarian selections). Already confirmed are Fat Burger and a couple of Los Angeles’ hottest gourmet food trucks, the Spring Street Smoke House and King Kone.

The SoRo Festival stage will feature live musical and dance performances from some of SoCal’s talented young performers, including appearances from Rock Nation, World Garden Dance and Music Studio, dance and vocal performance from the students of Shenandoah Elementary, Dorsey High School and the award winning Jazz Vocal Ensemble from Hamilton High School and the top 40 and Latin Soul sound of The Westside Crew.

The SoRo Community Festival is coordinated by the South Robertson Neighborhoods Council and SoRo, Inc. and funded in part by a grant from the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. We would like to invite the entire Southern California community to join our event. Admission to the SoRo Community Festival is Free. Free street parking is also available. The SoRo Festival is open to the public and will provide plenty of fun for the whole family on a Sunday afternoon!
